Cybersecurity is a trade-off. Budgets aren't unlimited, and every organization has to weigh its risk appetite against the cost of reducing that risk. I've spent more than 25 years on both sides of that decision, building secure, business-aligned systems that supported growth. I've stood up IT organizations from scratch, built data centers, led security teams across distributed sites, supported M&A, and run enterprise and vendor management programs.
Today that experience shows up in three ways.
Writing. I publish field notes on cybersecurity, CISSP preparation, AI security, and risk at blog.balancedsec.com. Practical and opinionated, grounded in real engagements rather than theory.
Education. BalancedSec Academy (academy.balancedsec.com) is an AI-powered platform that prepares candidates for the CISSP exam. For people who want closer guidance, I also offer coaching and one-on-one instruction to help you prepare for and pass the CISSP.
Consulting. I provide vCISO and advisory services for organizations that need security confidence and compliance without a full-time executive. That includes creating or maturing a security operations program and team, and developing secure software.
